Sweetheart

  • From the Sweetheart

When forty young men dressed in suits brought a dozen white roses and filled the living room of my sorority house to sing The Sweetheart Song last fall, I was surprised, excited, and honored.  On that day, I never imagined how much my life would be affected as the Sweetheart of the Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Chi.  I am proud to be part of such a reputable and powerful organization both on George Washington’s campus and around the world.  I am incredibly grateful and lucky to call myself a part of Sigma Chi.

As the sweetheart, I have become an active member of the fraternity.  I regularly visit the house, assist in recruitment planning, and help with regular fraternity procedure.  I also help to connect the fraternity with the Panhellenic community through a strong relationship with my own sorority and other Panhellenic organizations on campus.  I often serve as a second opinion for many decisions and help the boys when they need a female opinion!

Some of my best memories of college have transpired when surrounded by Sigs.  I have traveled to Virginia Beach for two memorable Sigma Chi formal weekends, dressed up in my most preppy outfit for the annual Frattyshack party, and enjoyed barbeques on the front lawn for the Fourth of July.  My favorite memory is last year’s semi-formal Sweetheart Ball at the French Embassy when the brothers officially sang the well-known Sweetheart Song to me for the first time!

Sigma Chi is so much more than a typical college fraternity.  Sigma Chi boasts an active group of men both on and off campus.  Sigma Chi is a group of scholars that will undoubtedly be successful in their future.   Sigma Chi values the importance of a strong brotherhood and a union that stretches around the globe.  Sigma Chi is an organization of men that has taught me countless lessons, given me their backing when I most needed support, and has provided me with the bond of true and lasting friendship.  I am proud to be a part of Sigma Chi.

    Sincerely,

    Elizabeth Lisowski
